I'm at work making some good progress on a very large spreadsheet. I've been swamped with work for a couple weeks now but the end of the backlog is in site; today or tomorrow I would guess. Of course, I could get a another big pile before the day is over. We shall see how it goes.
Sweetous was watching the farm this weekend and I helped her. Saturday night I was channel surfing TV and found an interesting movie to watch: Seraphim Falls. I started somewhere in the middle but it was still quite interesting with lots of violence too...

Hey everyone who passes by ! Go visit by blog friend at Nan's Journal and if you need candles; buy some from her!
The Janey Briscoe Workshop has employed handicapped employees for years now and the employees do a beautiful job of making scented candles in an array of colors and fragrances.....
The reason for my visit to the candle shop today is that
I will be buying candles to resell on Ebay and the purpose for this is
to both help the candle shop and to raise money for the Atta Girls
Scholarship.

First the big announcement: young Piglette a/k/a Princess 2.0 or Dawnie is pregnant ! I've known for week or two and Mike and Dawn told me today that I could release the news for the world to see ! So soon I will be a grampa ! Outstanding ! It seems like not very long ago I was a in the Army, single and raising hell. That was over twenty years ago but sometimes seems like yesterday, other times like ages ago. Very surreal and very good !

montgomery county same sex bathrooms - Google Search
I heard people talking about this on a talk show a while back and then I saw something in my church bulletin about it. My view is that we should treat GLTGB people kindly but we ought not to cater to their predilections. I doubt that most people (Americans) would tolerate this sort of nonsense. On the other hand, I have used unisex public (not military) bathrooms in Europe and Korea when I was in the military and it seemed to work well: everyone took care of the task at hand and moved on when finished.

This is from the page I just added: pictures from Parent’s 50th (circa 2000) « dennis@suite-6.net which consists of pics from the powerpoint that we did for my Parent's 50th several years ago. The pics cover a broad time period and many locations.
I often take screen shots of web-sites or other things on my computer. Today I added a page of screen pics that were on my hard drive at work: screen pics… « dennis@suite-6.net

Today in history: On this day 1983 at the U.S. Military Hospital in Bad Canstatt, Stuttgart, Germany, there was born to Sweetous and I a princess ! Yes, today 's LB's birthday ! HAPPY BIRTHDAY LB !

My friend Smitty sent me some pics of these signs via email. Although Casa D' Ice is not far from where I grew up, I've never been there. Looks like they have good food; they certainly have interesting signs ! I don't agree with them all, but I love the way this guy just tells you exactly what he thinks ! Good for him !

I'm at work now, just finished transcribing a tape; now I will resume filling in depreciations on this other spreadsheet that I've been working with off and on for a week or so. I'm hoping to kill that one today too.

I've not been feeling well since monday evening; a head cold and stomach issues coupled with intensive tiredness. I feel lame ! Even so though, I did get a nice batch of stuff done today at work. I hope to feel well tomorrow so I can walk in the park.

I'm reading this book, an expose of the credit industry and I am appalled at gross excesses and appalling evil of this industry ! Even more disturbing is how the whole thing is aided and abetted by the government. Of course, blame has to be placed everywhere it is due: not only the creditors but also the greed and sloth of the average consumer. There is no way that we can sustain this; our society will collapse from the weight of all this debt and we will trash the environment with our unlimited appetites for more stuff !

I got a lot done at work today, still have lots to do. This is good though, helps prevent unemployment. After work, Bella the dog took Sweetous and I for a 3 mile walk in the park. Bella does well, but does like to bark at people. So after the walk, we ate some frozen enchiladas from Wal-mart; never again ! My stomach does not like them at all !
Gawd ! I'm getting annoyed at my computer, it took 20 minutes at least to get all booted up ! I would reformat the dam thing, but Vista scares me ! It's a lot more complicated than XP was. I have installed XP several times. I don't know if you can install XP after Vistas though ! Maybe I'll try Ubuntu.

Once upon a time, a long long time ago, a time very different from the time we live in now; we ironed all our clothes ! Not only that we took them to the laundromat for washing ! Sweetous was looking at pics on her computer and she showed me this one. It is hard to fathom how we had the time to iron our clothes ! We even ironed the baby clothes ! I know we were busy 'cause we had two little kids, both of us were in the Army and we were both taking classes. Even so, we managed to iron the clothes. One possible explanation is that this was the early '80's well before widespread Internet access.

I am awake at my computer before 6:00 am on a non-work day ! Sweetous had to work today, so when she got up I did also and let the dogs out for a while. I debated whether to stay up or go back to bed and chose to return to bed. However, I wasn't really able to get back to sleep. Last night before going to bed I had started thinking about new year's resolutions and became obsessed with the idea of doing a blog about resolutions.
I have never been into making resolutions. I resist the idea of setting goals and making a commitment to accomplish any particular task within a given time frame; preferring instead to lurk and prowl my way through life. Of course I actually do make and keep commitments: I've been married to Sweetous for over 20 years, we raised two princesses, I served in the Army for 20 years, I have held a job with the same organization since 1992, and I attend church almost every Sunday. However, it is true that I really prefer not to make commitments.
Keeping in mind my aversion to planning, goal setting, and commitments; I will now make some flexible resolutions for the rapidly approaching new year....

We finished out 2007 with a dump run ! Sweetous coaxed me into taking a load of junk to the dump; I tried to convince her to do something else but it was no use. So off to the dump we went. At least we didn't have to wait in a long line; we were among the select few people who made a dump run today !
After our trash hauling adventure I went to Borders. I bought a book, Maxed Out: Hard Times in the Age of Easy Credit. I also looked at some other books: one about clutter; also The Official Ubuntu Book (2nd Edition) (Paperback) and Ubuntu Linux Bible (Paperback). Ubuntu seems to be the up and coming thing. I've been using Vista but have been annoyed lately because my PC is being sluggish and I've encountered the Blue Screen of Death too often over the past few weeks. I've also been getting restless, just wanting to try something new, so I may try Ubuntu. I got a 30% off coupon today when I bought my book, so I'll likely get another book in the near future.

a lazy sunday morning checking some blogs, looking at book reccomendations...
Undeception - My name is Stephen Douglas. My wife and two small children live in Perry, GA, where I am trying to make a living while finishing my postgraduate degree. Among my chief interests are writing, old languages, and music. Be sure to leave some comments pro, con, or neutral, if for no other reason than to assure me that what I’m writing is not disappearing into the void of cyberspace unnoticed!
Emerging Pensees - I'm currently reading one of my Christmas books, James Dunn's A New Perspective on Jesus: What the Quest for the Historical Jesus Missed. As the subtitled indicates, the book is basically a critique of some of the major flaws in the assumptions and methodology of the so-called "Quest for the Historical Jesus", and especially among members of the Jesus Seminar.

I'm at work now, started transcribing a new tape (1/3). That will keep me busy a good while, especially since it's on the slow speed ! I tell these guys to use the faster speed 'cause it gives a much better quality recording but still about half the time the have it on slow. I wonder if they are trying to save money on tapes LOL !
Of course, I'm also doing some web surfing. this morning Nancy writes about saving money in her blog. She is right on about the eating out, that gets expensive !

Well, the last week or so has been hectic ! We went to State College to visit Piglette and Mike for Christmas. We went to church at 11:00 pm Christmas eve. On Christmas day we went to visit my parents and two of my brothers were there along with various other family. A good time was had by all, albeit a tired time (for me anyway).
We drove back to Damascus yesterday and just loafed around the house. Today I am at work; not real busy but feels like we should have the week off ! Oh well. We do have Monday off next week.
